DescriptionThe chair has vase turned front legs and two vertical chair stiles from feet to crest. The front two stretchers are vase turned and the three remaining sides have two plain stretchers each, although the right side is missing one. Doweled joints attach the stretchers to the legs. There is an apron attached under the front of the seat. Four separate pieces of wood frame the seat and there is a thin piece of wood in the center with holes in it, which is attached to the seat with nails. Bent brackets reinforce the stiles and are attached to the stiles and seat with screws. The right bracket has a small piece of curved metal under the top screw. There is a pressed bottom rail with a beading design. Mortise and tenon joints attach the crest rail and the bottom rail to the chair. Five vase turned spindles are attached to the crest rail and bottom rail with doweled joints. The crest rail is pressed and has an oval decorative design.
