DescriptionThis chair has splayed tapered front and back legs attached to the seat with doweled joints. There are two sausage and ring turned stretchers at the front which are black except for the ring turns which are gold. There are two plain stretchers on the other three sides. All stretchers are attached to the legs with doweled joints. The seat is comprised of one piece of wood and is a saddle seat. The two back parts are splayed upwards and tapered at the bottom and they are attached to the seat with doweled joints. There are four spindles attached to the seat and crest rail. These are also sausage and ring turned. Each spindle has two sets of rings, one double and one single and the spindles are tapered at the top and bottom. The crest rail is attached to the stiles with doweled joints and it is round and plain. The chair has been over-painted in black but a lot of a white undercoat is visible.
