BiographyFarmer, rancher, businessman.
Came to Tempe in 1875 at the age of 15 to help his father, Winchester Miller. He was one of the donors that contributed to a fund to purchase the land for the Territorial Normal School in 1885.
Managed the Tempe-Mesa Produce Co., 1897. Established the Arizona Mercantile Company, 1898. Owned 250-acre ranch near Tempe. In 1900, he constructed a building at 418-422 Mill Avenue, where the Farmers and Merchants Bank was located. He was a Director of the Tempe Irrigating Canal Company. He served as a Tempe City Councilman, 1902-1906.
Member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the United Moderns.
Lived on E. 7th Street (1905-1909), Normal and 8th Street (1911), and Creamery Road (E. 8th Street) near Brooker Avenue (1914).
