Worked for E. H. Spain in 1919.
Owner of Gililland Motor Company Garage, on East 8th Street (now University Drive) in 1921. Gilliland-Williams Chevrolet Agency in 1930, '31,'32, '36.
Tempe City Councilman, 1932-1934 and 1938-1961.
Mayor of Tempe, June 16, 1960 - April 27, 1961.
Member of the Tempe Elementary School District No. 3 Board of Education, 1940-1953. In recognition of his services, the Tempe Elementary School District named its new intermediate school Clyde Gililland Junior High School in 1963.
In 1958, served as director of transportation at Kyrene Elementary School.
He was also active for over 30 years in Tempe Rotary Club, and was a member of the Tempe Volunteer Fire Department.
Lived at 928 [920] S. Mill Avenue, c1926-1940, and later, at
19 E. 13th Street.
