BiographyTeacher in 1921..
Came to Tempe in 1898.
Graduated from Tempe Normal School in 1913; received a B.A. from ASTC in 1936. She also attended University of Arizona, University of Southern California, and Arizona State College at Flagstaff (NAU).
She was a first grade teacher in Tempe for 48 years, 1913-1961. She taught at the Baptist Church Parsonage (8th Street and Myrtle), The Tenth Street School (1915-1946), the Eighth Street School (1947-1950), and Ritter School (1950-1961). In 1959 she was one of the first national recipients of the Valley Forge Freedom Foundation's Classroom Teachers Medals.
Flora Thew School was named in her honor in 1958.
Member of Order of Eastern Star.
Lived on 7th Street, c1910; lived at 1016/1116 McAllister, c1913-1921, -23, '25, '26, -'28, '29, '31, '32; lived at 417 E. Laguna.
