BiographyBusiness owner (livery); rancher; farmer.
Came to Tempe c1871.
Owner of Avenue Stables on Mill Avenue.
Had a livery bus line with an office between 2nd and 3rd streets in 1917.
He was a cotton grower in 1918.
Tempe City Councilman, 1898-1900.
He served 15 years as school trustee, including
Kyrene School Dist. Governing Board, c1920-1923.
He was an active supporter of higher education, and four of his children were trained as school teachers. He was also involved with recording individual histories in the archives of the Arizona Pioneers' Historical Society (now AHS).
He owned 160 acres of the best farm land in Salt River Valley.
He was a member of the American Legion in 1928.
Lived on Mill Avenue in 1910; lived on a ranch southwest of Tempe in 1940.
