BiographyScience Professor at the Territorial Normal School/Arizona State Teachers College, 1896-1941.
Graduated with a B.A. from University of Iowa. Began his teaching career as assistant principal in Dubuque High School. In 1896 accepted positon as Teacher of Science at the Territorial Normal School and continued there until 1941.. Started the Territorial Normal School military corps and the first football team. He was instrumental in starting inter-scholastic sports at the Territorial Normal School, including football, tennis, and basketball. He served as football coach since the formation of the first team in the fall of 1896. He was also Assistant Principal in 1914. In 1921 was a eacher at the Normal School. A men's dormitory built in 1940 was named Irish Hall in his honor.
Member of the Arizona State and National Education Associations, and the Board of Directors of Boys Scouts of America. In 1926,'28, '29, '30, '32 was registrar of Tempe State Teachers Co llege.
