DescriptionThis is a platform rocker of the Eastlake style. The platform consists of two pieces of wood which are curved at the front and back and have some carvings on them. There are casters at the front of these two pieces of wood and two circular stretchers attach them together. The chair has two curved rockers which also have some carvings. These are attached to the platform with two large coiled springs, one on each side. The spring is attached with nuts and bolts. There are two circular turned stretchers between the rockers. The rockers attach onto a circular, bobbin turned seat frame and bobbin turned stiles. The seat is padded and covered in rose colored weave material. Arm supports are attached diagonally to the front of the seat frame and to the stiles. The support consists of two bulb and bobbin turned vertical pieces of wood, which are of different length, attached to the diagonal circular piece of wood below it and another above it. These pieces of wood are also bobbin turned and the top one has red fabric around it. The bottom rail at the back is circular. Above this is a circular, bobbin and vase shaped piece of wood and above this another circular piece, onto which a red fabric back rest is attached. These three pieces are connected by two vertical circular pieces of wood. The back rest is attached at the top to another circular piece of wood. Attached to this are two bobbin turned vertical pieces which are then connected to a crest rail which is circular, bobbin and vase turned and has fabric on it. There is vase turning at the top of the stiles also.
