DescriptionEarly American pine chair with embroidered padded seat.
The left front leg of this chair is round with one flat side on the inside, whereas the right leg is completely round. Both front legs taper at the bottom. The bottom half of the stiles are round and taper towards the bottom and the top half are round but flat on the front. There are two plain round stretchers on each side, except at the back where there is only one. The stretchers are attached to the front legs and stiles with doweled joints. The seat is made out of a flat piece of wood covered with upholstery which has a floral design. The underside is made of a different material. The fabric is attached to the seat with nails. The chair has a slightly curved crest rail and slightly curved rail in the middle of the upper part of the chair. Both rails are attached with mortise and tenon joints.
